Man and shot killed by juvenile in Omak

OMAK, Wash. – Okanogan deputies arrested a juvenile after he shot and killed a man on Kirkpatrick Road near Omak.

According to the Okanogan Sheriff’s Office, on May 28, around 1:17 p.m., they received a report of a shooting on North Kirkpatrick Road, a neighborhood in Omak. Daniel Simpson was identified as the victim, having been shot in the back by a juvenile suspect, who fled the scene shortly after.

Okanogan County deputies, along with officers from Washington State Fish and Wildlife, Washington State Patrol and Omak police, converged on the area, establishing a perimeter and deploying a drone.

According to deputies, the suspect was apprehended 30 minutes later and subsequently booked into the Okanogan County Juvenile Detention Center.

Despite efforts by Life Line Ambulance medics to save him, Simpson was pronounced dead at the scene.
