SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was arrested after Spokane sheriff’s said he punched multiple passing vehicles in north Spokane, causing some significant damage.
On June 30, around 7:25 p.m., the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office responded to West Hastings Road and North Mill Road. Callers reported that a man was walking into traffic, trying to punch cars.
One victim recently purchased their car, which sustained an estimated $700 in damage from the punch.
39-year-old Benjamin J. Carrillo was identified and found walking on W Hastings Road.
SCSO developed probable cause to arrest Carrillo, and when deputies approached him, he became violent, puffing out his chest and taking a fighting stance. SCSO said he began waving at deputies to get them to fight.
“(Expletive) you guys! Come on, let’s go!” Carrillo said.
In an attempt to try and de-escalate the situation, a deputy drew his taser and advised Carrillo that it would not be used if he complied with police.
Carrillo was taken into custody and was offered medical treatment for his bloody knuckles, but he refused.
Carrillo was booked into the Spokane County Jail on charges of third-degree malicious mischief.
