HARPSTER, Idaho — A man was arrested after hitting an officer while drunk on Thursday.
According to the Idaho County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho County Dispatch received a phone call about a drunk man, later identified as 52-year-old Christopher Schmaus, who was causing a scene around 9:50 p.m. on Sept. 5. Later, authorities got another phone call reporting gunshots fired in the Harpster area.
When deputies arrived, they confronted Schmaus and tried to speak to him. The suspect lashed out and hit a deputy. He was arrested for felony battery on certain personnel and cited for misdemeanor resisting and obstructing.
