Man arrested in connection with deadly downtown Spokane hit-and-run

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane police have arrested a man in connection with a hit-and-run incident that resulted in the death of a woman.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), on June 19, Gary F. Burns, 42, was arrested for his involvement in a deadly crash that occurred on June 11 in Downtown Spokane.

SPD said traffic investigators worked diligently over the past week to identify the vehicle and driver linked to the incident.

Officers located Burns at a house in Spokane Valley and took him into custody. He is currently being held at the Spokane County Jail. The arrest is related to a crash at the intersection of North Browne Street and West Main, which led to road closures for over an hour.

The victim sustained life-threatening injuries in the crash and later succumbed to her wounds at the hospital, according to the SPD.
