Man arrested in Spokane Valley after trying to run over deputy

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A man is in jail after allegedly attempting to run over a deputy in Spokane Valley.

Investigators report that 36-year-old Justin Van Slyke led deputies on two chases last week. During one of the chases, Van Slyke reportedly hit a patrol car and then tried to run over a deputy.

After this incident, Van Slyke disappeared until early yesterday morning when the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office learned of his location in Chewelah.

He was arrested following a brief standoff.

The inmate roster confirms that Van Slyke is being held on two bonds totaling $12,500. He faces a list of 10 charges.
