SOAP LAKE, Wash. — One man was ticketed after causing a brush fire in Soap Lake.
According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO), deputies cited a man for second degree reckless burning after causing an 8-acre fire on his property.
According to Grant County Fire District 7 (GCFD7), fire crews responded to a brush fire call around 11:40 a.m. on Sunday. The Chief Officer who arrived on the scene first saw that the fire was spreading at a rapid rate with a possibility of crossing over Highway 28.
GCFD7 and crews from the Ephrata Fire Department, Fire District 12, and Fire District 13 helped put out the growing fire and mop up hot spots.
GCSO said that this was the second person to receive a reckless burning ticket since the burn ban began.
