SPOKANE, Wash. – The man accused of a shooting at the Armed Forces Torchlight Parade claims it was an act of self-defense and was released by the Spokane Police Department (SPD).
The suspect is one of the owners PM Jacoy’s where the shooting happened. The suspect spoke to NonStop Local, revealing that SPD released him after seeing surveillance video of him acting in self-defense. He was held in SPD custody eight to ten hours after being detained.
The man told NonStop that his father was being threatened by two individuals, one carrying a “machete-sized knife.”
Initial reports from SPD when the incident happened were that one person was shot, and another was injured during a shooting inside a business located at the corner of West Sprague Avenue and North Washington Street on Saturday night.
SPD had officers stationed throughout the route, facilitating a rapid response to the scene.
