SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiner has identified the man who died after crashing his truck into the Spokane River on May 2.
Douglas Hanson, 67, , and the cause and manner of his death are still under investigation.
Hanson was originally in critical condition but has since been declared dead.
The Spokane Fire Department (SFD) responded on May 2 to a call from a witness who had reportedly seen Hanson’s truck floating downstream.
SFD noticed Hanson’s body outside the truck as he drifted downstream, and he shortly became caught beneath the water’s surface near the Green Street bridge.
After pulling him from the water, SFD said he was transported to the hospital in critical condition.
Spokane Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit is continuing to investigate the crash and death of Hanson.
