MEAD, Wash. — Spokane County Sheriff’s Major Crimes detectives are investigating after a man was found dead in his home near Mead early Saturday morning.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), deputies responded to the 15100 block of North Wilson Court for a residential burglary. SCSO said callers reported yelling, loud bangs or possible shots fired.
SCSO said when they arrived, the man was found dead. A young girl was also in the home sleeping but fled at the time of the incident and was found uninjured.
A Spokane Police Department K9 Unit was called to assist in a search for the suspect. No one has been found, according to SCSO.
Hospital staff reported a woman with non life-threatening stab wounds shortly after the incident.
Major Crimes investigators responded to the home and secured it to preserve evidence.
According to SCSO, investigators do not believe this was a random incident, as the injured woman and dead man knew each other. SCSO said there is no known threat to the community in connection with this investigation.
