Man hit and killed in Spokane Valley crash on North Tschirley Road

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A man is dead after a reported car vs pedestrian crash Sunday evening in Spokane Valley.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 5:30 p.m. on North Tschirley Road. The driver told deputies he was traveling north when he noticed a Kia parked on the east side of the road, partially blocking the travel lane.

Deputies said the driver was looking at the parked car as he passed and then struck a man crossing the road. The man had reportedly made a delivery on the west side of Tschirley Road and was returning to his parked Kia when he was hit.

The driver told deputies he attempted to swerve to avoid the pedestrian but struck him despite his efforts. Deputies said the driver performed CPR until medics arrived, but the man died at the scene.

Deputies said that impairment is not believed to be a factor in the incident. The driver of the Subaru was released without charges.

The investigation remains ongoing, and no further details are available at this time. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office said that they will release the victim’s identity when appropriate.
