SPOKANE, Wash. – A man remains hospitalized after he threatened two people with a knife, leading to two officers shooting him in downtown Spokane.

The Spokane Police Department (SPD) confirmed officers responded to a call around 12:09 p.m. from a Department Of Corrections (DOC) officer. The officer claimed a man he was supervising was suicidal and armed with a knife near Post and Riverside.

SPD said the suspect was walking down Riverside when he displayed his knife and held it to someone’s throat. The man flashed the knife again, backing someone down the block.

When officers arrived on the scene, three officers tried to use their tasers to get the suspect under control, all attempts were unsuccessful. SPD confirmed two officers used lethal force and contained the suspect.

Officers immediately provided medical aid and the suspect was transported to the hospital where he remains. We do not know his condition at this time.
