Man killed by Spokane police after he shot woman in north Spokane identified

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane County Medical Examiners Office identified the man who was shot and killed by the Spokane Police Department (SPD) after he allegedly shot a woman in a north Spokane home.

50-year-old Erick Cid died as a result of gunshot wounds, according to the medical examiner’s office. His cause of death is listed as a homicide.

Just after midnight on Feb. 12, SPD responded to the report of a woman who said a man staying with her was threatening her with a gun. SPD said while on the phone with the victim, dispatch heard gunshots, followed by the woman saying she was shot.

Police arrived on the scene and found the suspect. Gunfire was exchanged and one officer shot and killed the suspect.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was treated for gunshot wounds to the arm and neck. Her condition remains unknown.

The Spokane Independent Investigative Response Team is investigating this incident.
