ATLANTA, Ga. – A courtroom in Atlanta is the setting for the trial of a man accused of murdering Laken Riley, a University of Georgia student.
Riley, 22, was on her morning jog when she was killed on campus.
Jose Ibarra, a Venezuelan national, faces multiple charges including murder, kidnapping, aggravated assault, battery, and tampering with evidence related to Riley’s death in February.
Her murder became a significant topic during the 2024 presidential race and was highlighted by President-elect Donald Trump.
Ibarra has waived his right to a jury trial, leaving a judge to determine his fate.
