SPOKANE, Wash. — A man accused of attempting to lure A 13-year-old girl into his car in Liberty Lake on Sunday walked out of court on his own recognizance Thursday, due back in court for his arraignment on Nov. 28.

Larry Munyon, 59, of Liberty Lake faces child luring charges stemming from the incident.

According to probable cause documents, Munyon repeatedly pressured the teen to get in his car as she walked to the grocery store. The girl told her father over the phone that she was “weirded out” because a suspicious man was “stalking around the area” she was walking.

The girl’s father drove to meet her and confronted Munyon, asking him why he was talking to his daughter and telling him he was going to call the police. The father told investigators Munyon then drove off, but not before he took a picture of the car and the rear license plate, which matched a car registered to Munyon.

Investigators asked the girl to compare a driver’s license picture of Munyon to the person she saw in the vehicle, but she told them she wasn’t sure because she did not get a good look at him.

Her father posted his picture of the suspect driving away on the “Liberty Lake community” Facebook page, saying it was a picture of a suspect prowling in the area and trying to lure young girls. He then received a message from a member identifying the suspect as Munyon, along with a picture of Munyon and his wife. Per court documents, the girl’s father recognized Munyon’s wife as his daughter’s 2nd-grade teacher.

Investigators attempted to reach Munyon at his Liberty Lake home multiple times after Sunday, without success. They ultimately called Munyon and told him he needed to turn himself in, which he did on Wednesday.

Court documents say Munyon has a criminal history. A case in Bonner County, Idaho in 2006 showed Munyon faced charges of lewd conduct with a minor under 16. Bonner County records show Munyon had those charged knocked down to battery in a plea agreement.
