Man suspected of shooting in Spokane faces charges

SPOKANE, Wash. – A man suspected of shooting his brother was found and arrested by police on Wednesday.

The shooting occurred on Aug. 8, following an altercation on Mansfield Avenue that ended with a man being shot and driving to the 76 Gas Station on Monroe Street.Andrew Dunnagan, 37, was arrested after a nearly month-long investigation into the shooting.Court documents reveal that when police arrived on the scene, the victim stated he believed his brother had shot him in the neck.Later, at the hospital, the victim told police he wasn’t sure who had shot him but saw someone stick a gun out of a silver Audi and fire at him.A witness recalled seeing a silver Audi pull up next to a truck on the street and a woman jumping out of the truck, saying her friend had been shot. The witness saw both vehicles drive away and followed the truck to a gas station, where he confronted the victim and realized he had been shot.Another woman at the scene reported seeing a man with a black pistol and fleeing in fear.A Spokane Police officer later found the Audi, believed to be connected to the incident, unoccupied near 15th Avenue and Freya Street.The officer located Stephanie Krahn near 12th and Ferrell and believed she was the driver who dropped off the Audi.Krahn was questioned by police about her connection to the Audi and Dunnagan.She stated she was with Dunnagan most of the morning, and while on the way to a doctor’s appointment, Dunnagan received a call about his brother.According to Krahn, Dunnagan became upset because his brother had stolen money from him and called him a “federal rat.”Dunnagan and Krahn spent the next few hours searching for his brother and a truck described in the phone call. Once they found the truck, Krahn said she saw Dunnagan run up to it, pistol-whip the driver, and heard several gunshots.Police recovered a bullet casing and DNA evidence from inside the truck.Dunnagan was arrested on Wednesday and faces charges of first-degree assault. Details regarding his arrest are not yet known.The victim remains hospitalized with life-threatening injuries after a bullet traveled from his neck to his arm.
