Man threatens apartment manager, maintenance man with knife in Coeur d’Alene

COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – One man is in jail after he threatened two people with a knife, prompting a SWAT standoff at a Coeur d’Alene apartment.

The Coeur d’Alene Police Department (CDAPD) responded to the report of an assault with a knife on Nov. 29 around 12:50 p.m. Police said the apartment manager and maintenance man were inspecting a unit in the 7700 block of North Heartland Drive when a resident became angry and threatened them with a knife.

Both victims were able to leave, and no one was injured.

Angelo D. Hunter, 48, was approached by police but quickly locked himself inside his apartment and refused to cooperate with police. SWAT personnel were called out, and Hunter surrendered without further incident.

Hunter was arrested and booked into the Kootenai County Public Safety Building on two counts of aggravated assault.

This incident remains under investigation.
