Manhunt for wanted prison escapee ends in Seattle area

MONROE, Wash. – A wanted prison inmate on the run in the Seattle area has been found and arrested after a four-day manhunt.

Patrick Lester Clay, 59, escaped Monroe Correctional Complex on April 26, starting a statewide manhunt that ended in his arrest on Tuesday.

He was found in a Beacon Hill neighborhood in the Seattle area and has been placed in restrictive housing with the Washington State Department of Corrections.

Local law enforcement and prosecutors plan to pursue charges related to his escape.

The Monroe Police Department and the Monroe Correctional Complex now will conduct a critical incident review to identify if any improvements or changes are needed moving forward.
