PULLMAN, Wash. – The man accused of a Sep. 2021 shooting in Pullman has been charged with manslaughter by the Whitman County Prosecuting Attorney.

George Harris III was initially charged with assault after firing a gun at a Pullman party, allegedly killing his roommate 23-year-old Liban A. Barre and injuring Brandon Gray. According to the prosecuting attorney’s office, Gray has been uncooperative with investigators.

“The man who was shot and injured has been uncooperative with law enforcement and no charges will be brought in relation to his injuries,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Harris claimed that he acted in self-defense, as did a fellow roommate Jonathan Gonzalez in a 2021 interview.

Harris will make his first court appearance on July 19.
