Mayor Lisa Brown thanks officers injured in violent police chase crash

SPOKANE, Wash. – Mayor Lisa Brown thanked the pursuing a drive by shooting suspect on Friday.

“Several SpokanePD officers were injured today while making an arrest. Any injury is tragic, but I am grateful it did not result in the loss of life. My thoughts are with the officers and their families,” Brown said.

According to the Spokane Police Department, seven officers and a police dog were hurt in the crash, resulting in hospital visits for the officers and veterinary care for the K9 officer.

A has caused concern for the Spokane Police Department as a prepares to replace interim chief Justin Lundgren.

“This particular incident highlights the challenges our patrol officers are up against every day with the number of shootings they investigate and the behavior of the suspects,” Lundgren said.

The suspect accused of involvement in the drive by was also hospitalized following the crash.
