MONTANA – The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is pointing to silvered onions as the likely cause of a recent E. coli outbreak linked to McDonald’s restaurants.
The outbreak has affected a total of 90 individuals, a jump from 75 cases reported last Friday. In Montana, four new cases have been confirmed, bringing the state’s total to 17. Meanwhile, Wyoming has reported five cases.
These onions were used in McDonald’s popular Quarter Pounder, which the company removed from its menu following the outbreak. However, the Quarter Pounder is expected to make a return this week.
