FLINT, Mich. (AP) — Michigan Republicans delegates have chosen Circuit Court Judge Patrick O’Grady as their nominee to run for one of two available Supreme Court seats. In doing so, they passed over a prominent attorney charged with trying to tamper with voting machines. Matthew DePerno rose to prominence after repeatedly questioning the results of the 2020 election. He has denied wrongdoing in the voting- machine tampering case and calls the prosecution politically motivated. Candidates for the state’s highest court appear on the ballot as nonpartisan but are nominated at party conventions. Democratic-backed justices currently hold a 4-3 majority on the court.
