A cat has been reunited with its owners nine years after it went missing.

Pepé seemingly managed to get himself help after he limped across a police car park and started meowing at PC Liz Harrison.

She was leaving the station post in Samlesbury, Lancashire when she found him with an injured paw, so she put him safely into a box and took him to a local vet.

Luckily, Pepé has a microchip, so the vets contacted his owner Caroline, and left a voicemail message, on Wednesday (August 28).

She rushed to the vet to collect him on Friday with her daughter, nine, who was just three months old when the cat went missing.

She said she shared an online appeal and put posters up nine years ago but never heard anything, eventually losing hope.
