MISSOULA, Mont. – The Missoula Family YMCA is nearing the completion of significant renovations, aiming to become “Missoula’s Community Center.” Nearly 15,000 people in the Missoula community use the YMCA’s campus, and the upgrades are expected to enhance their experience.

Members of the community are expressing positive feelings about the changes. Kamra Kolendich, a YMCA member and teacher, shared her excitement, saying, “I think everyone’s really looking forward to when the final product is done. I think with the community that’s stepped forward and made this happen it’s been really exciting and welcoming. We need it for our community.”

The renovations include an “airnasium” with pickleball and basketball courts, the return of the spa, a splash pad, and a playground. A childcare center has already been added. The YMCA is offering tours to the community to showcase the progress and the investments made.

Heather Foster, CEO of the Missoula Family YMCA, expressed gratitude for the community’s support, stating, “You know I think we’re so grateful for this community and what it’s done and helped us get this far in fundraising our efforts and we want people to see what they’ve invested in.”

The YMCA has raised over $18 million over three years and is currently working to secure the remaining funding. They have a $500,000 match they aim to use by mid-January, with hopes to raise the last million needed to open the completed facility by the end of summer.
