Moses Lake murder suspect arrested in California by U.S. Marshals

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – A shooting at Montlake Park in Grant County left one dead and two injured, leading to the arrest of a Moses Lake man in California.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, on November 12, 2023, police responded to Montlake Park in Grant County following reports of gunfire. The incident, which appears to be gang-related, resulted in one person being killed and two others being injured. Authorities identified several suspects and took them into custody. Christopher Valle Maciel, a suspect in the case, fled the area to avoid prosecution.

Moses Lake police reported that Valle Maciel was later located and apprehended by the United States Marshals Service in Riverside County, California. Valle Maciel faced charges of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree assault, and first-degree drive-by shooting.

United States Marshal Craig Thayer stated, “Once again, the cooperative efforts of local police agencies and U.S. Marshals Service-led task forces have resulted in the arrest of a violent offender, who will now face justice and answer for alleged violent crimes in a court of law.”
