MOSES LAKE, Wash. – Moses Lake Police arrested and charged a 27-year-old in the murder of his grandfather who was found in a shallow grave on Sunday.
The Grant County Sheriff’s Office initially investigated the case, but the investigation quickly led Moses Lake Police Officers to a residence on Dale Street in the Knolls Vista neighborhood.
They arrested 27-year-old Isaiah Thomas, charging him with the murder of his grandfather, who has been identified as 75-year-old Richard Andrews
Police say they believe the murder took place at the Dale Street address, where Thomas had been residing with Andrews.
Moses Lake Police Detectives are now leading the investigation, working closely with Grant County Detectives.
Given the complexity of the case, the Washington State Patrol Crime Lab has been called in to process both the Cascade Valley site and the Dale Street residence.
Crime lab technicians are expected to complete their work by late Tuesday night.
The next of kin of Richard Andrews have been notified. The investigation remains ongoing, with more information to be released as it becomes available.
