Moses Lake School District places superintendent on administrative leave

MOSES LAKE, Wash. – The Moses Lake School Board placed Superintendent Monty Sabin on administrative leave Tuesday night.

The decision happened during a school board executive session and occurs as the school district faces a $20 million budget deficit and is preparing to lay off about 100 employees.

Assistant Superintendent Carol Lewis was appointed to serve as the interim Superintendent. The school board did not offer a reason as to why Sabin has been placed on leave or why Lewis was chosen to replace him.

Sabin supported levys in February and April which would have allowed the district to maintain funding levels but both proposed financial boosts were rejected by Moses Lake voters.

This is a developing story. More information will appear as available.
