Moses Lake School District receives $10,000 donation for repairs amidst budget issues

SPOKANE, Wash. – Amidst a $20 million budget deficit causing the Moses Lake School District to layoff more than 200 people, a family has donated $10,000 to the district to repair the Garden Heights Elementary School water well.

The donations from Derick and Audra Eckenberg will help the district avoid even more financial pressure amidst a painful year for educators in Moses Lake.

“This donation will make a significant difference in our efforts to provide a safe and nurturing environment for our students,” Interim Superintendent Carol Lewis said.

Heading into the 2024-2025 school year, the district will face educating the same amount of students with about 200 less staff members and fewer resources.
