Motorcycle crash in Spokane County leaves one woman dead and man severely injured

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — One woman is dead and a man is severely injured after a motorcycle crash on North Fairview Road near Mead.

According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the crash, which occurred around 7 p.m. Friday in the 8900 block of North Fairview Road.

Deputies reported that two people were on the motorcycle when it crashed. The woman, a passenger, was not breathing and CPR was in progress.

Deputies and firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 9 arrived, secured the scene, and provided medical treatment. Despite all efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver sustained severe injuries and was transported to the hospital for further care, according to the sheriff’s office.

Due to the severity of the crash, Traffic Unit Investigators have been requested to continue the investigation. Initial information suggests that speed and possible impairment may be contributing factors, according to the sheriff’s office.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased, along with the cause and manner of death, when appropriate.
