MARSHALL, Wash. — A motorcycle rider died after crashing into a car on Monday near Marshall.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of South Spotted Road and West Melville Road. Firefighters from Spokane County Fire District 3 arrived on the scene and provided medical aid to the male motorcycle rider, who was then transported to the hospital but later pronounced dead.
Preliminary reports suggest that the female driver of the car, traveling south on South Spotted Road with a young female passenger, tried to turn left onto West Melville Road. She crossed into the path of the northbound motorcycle. The rider attempted to brake but could not avoid the crash.
The motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries and died at the hospital. The car’s driver and passenger had only minor cuts and scrapes.
Failure to yield the right of way is believed to be a key factor in the crash. The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the rider’s name and details about the cause of death when available.
