Mowry Fire contained after 103-acre blaze

Updated on Sept. 1 at 4:10 p.m.- The Mowry Fire was completely contained and reduced to 86 acres Sunday afternoon according to the Idaho Department of Lands.

Update on Aug. 30 at 9 a.m. – Containment has reached 70% as firefighters continue to make progress on the flames.

A small spot fire popped up across the containment line that kept crews busy but was eventually knocked down.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Update on Aug. 28 at 9 p.m. – KOOTENAI COUNTY, Idaho — According to the Kootenai County Emergency Management team, the fire evacuations for the Mowroy Fire have been lifted. The fire reportedly covered 103 acres of land.

Originally published Aug. 28 3:45 p.m. – The Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office reports that a fire is burning near the Coeur d’Alene Indian Reservation, prompting level 1 (Be Ready) evacuation requests.

According to the sheriff’s office, evacuations have been requested for the Cave Bay area by the Idaho Department of Lands. Deputies are en route to assist Coeur d’Alene Tribal Police.

According to the Kootenai County Emergency Management team, the evacuation notice is set for Worley residents east of of Cave Bay Road to Mowry Road, and NORTH of Johnson Road. The fire is reportedly 103 acres in size and is 0% contained according to the Idaho Department of Lands.
