LIBERTY LAKE, Wash. – Multiple Liberty Lake and Spokane County residents are frustrated after their property was vandalized with paintballs over the weekend.

Most of the incidents appear to have occurred between Saturday night and into Sunday morning.

Melonie Cane was working an overnight shift in Liberty Lake, and in the early morning hours on Sunday, she went outside and discovered her car had been hit with a paintball.

“There was a big ol’ orange paintball on my silver car,” Cane said.

The car only sustained a very minor dent, and Cane was able to wash out the paint.

“I called Crime Check…I notified all my coworkers, and then I got on Facebook and realized that multiple people were hit in multiple areas,” Cane said.

One of those people includes Charles Kienbaum, who had his car hit by a paintball late Saturday night while he was driving. His wife and 10-month-old baby were also in the car.

“We heard something hit our car. Kind of sounded like rocks. We kinda thought it was funny. We got to our house, got outside of [the car] and there were paintball marks on the side of it. Two spots,” Kienbaum said.

NonStop Local talked via a private message on Facebook with one woman living in the Green Acres area of Spokane County who said her home was hit with paintballs. The woman said she saw that another home in the area was also hit.

The Mayor of Liberty Lake, Cris Kaminskas, told NonStop Local that a Liberty Lake city pickup truck was also hit with paintballs.

The Liberty Lake Police Department and Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) are aware of the incidents and confirmed the reports.

Liberty Lake Police said they suspect it was teenagers who did this.

They also have a suspected vehicle they are looking into.

These incidents are actively being investigated by Liberty Lake Police.
