SPOKANE, Wash. – Multiple residents in the Corbin Park neighborhood have claimed their Harris/Walz presidential campaign signs were removed over the weekend.
“Saturday evening, I was watching TV and went to bed a little after 10. And the dogs started barking a lot. Around 10:10. And I peaked out the window and I saw a car basically driving away at the time,” Greg Stripes, a Corbin Park resident, said.
Stripes realized Sunday morning that two out of three of his Harris/Walz campaign signs had been stolen.
“One of my neighbors a couple houses down mentioned to me, ‘Your signs were taken. As were ours and the next house…’ Basically all around the park,” Stripes said.
Stripes alleges the only signs taken were Harris/Walz signs. Other Democratic signs are still on display in lawns around the park.
He told NonStop Local that he is aware of at least 5 homes that were targeted.
One neighbor, who did not wish to speak on camera, told NonStop Local that Saturday evening, she was harassed by a group of young men prowling the neighborhood.
She said they commented on her Harris/Walz signs and told the woman, they “ought to kill” her.
“It’s certainly happened before to both sides. One of the ladies down here who is a Republican has had her sign knocked down or taken, occasionally, as well. But, I’ve never seen something so targeted as this,” Stripes said.
Both the woman and Stripes told NonStop Local they did not file police reports about these incidents.
NonStop Local contacted the Spokane Police Department (SPD) to get more information about these claims, but did not hear back.
