SPOKANE, Wash. – Natasha Hill, an attorney and current editor of The Black Lens, is running for Washington’s 3rd district House seat after current Representative Marcus Riccelli announced that he will not seek another term.

Hill, who ran an unsuccessful bid for national congress against Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers (R) in 2022, was a prominent voice in Spokane’s Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.

She joins the race with fellow Democrat Ben Stuckart, who also led an unsuccessful campaign to unseat McMorris Rodgers.

Hill’s campaign website highlights her background in Spokane and experience interacting with local governments.

“Growing up in the Hillyard neighborhood of Spokane, which is one of the poorest zip codes in the state, I experienced firsthand the ways that smart investments into social services, education, and labor can positively impact communities,” Hill’s website states.

There are currently no Republican candidates who have filed to run for the 3rd district seat.
