SPOKANE, Wash. – Fridgidaire’s Side by Side Refrigerators with Slim Ice Buckets were recalled because pieces of the ice bucket can break off.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, the hazards are caused by the ice bucket assembly component being breakable. Plastic pieces can fall into the ice bucket and be dispensed if it breaks.

So far, 343 incidents of ice buckets breaking have been reported to Electrolux Group, two of which causing laceration and ingestion injuries after plastic pieces were dispensed.

Electrolux Group is requesting that owners of this model stop using the ice makers immediately and is also offering a free ice bucket assembly component replacement.

Around 383,240 refrigerators, all of which were manufactured between 2015 and 2019, were included in the recall.

Recalled refrigerators were sold at Lowes, Home Depot and other stores nationwide and online at Frigidaire.com.

More information on recalled units can be found on Fridgidaire’s website.
