SPOKANE, Wash, – This weekend is Eastern Washington’s largest annual comic book and pop culture event, Lilac City Comicon.
Those who run the event are expecting thousands to attend their 18th annual event. Here’s what you need to know.
Bring canned food or nonperishable food items. There will be a food drive that goes to supporting those with food insecurity in the area. For each item you bring you get a raffle ticket towards a $300 arcade cabinet. They have donated over 10k pounds of food over the past few years at Lilac City Comicon.
The event runs Saturday 10-6 and Sunday 10-4.
There will be around 315 vendors. There will be free instructional panels with pro cosplayers teaching classes on makeup, making your own costume, and doing Q & A.
There will be pro actors, stuntmen and artists.
You are not required to dress up but you are definitely encouraged to. Those running the event expect about 2/3 of those in attendance to be in costume.
The costume contest will happen on Saturday June 1st at 5 p.m. for adults, and on Sunday, June 2nd at 3 p.m. for kids.
Adults must pre-register online by Friday, May 31st at 9 p.m. PST. For adults there are three categories: beginner, intermediate and expert. More info on each category and to register click here.
