Nevada GOP governor tells Democratic-controlled Legislature to set politics aside, find compromise

Nevada Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo has extended a hand to the Democratic-controlled state Legislature. He says they need to come together to find solutions for urgent issues like affordable housing and access to adequate health care. Lombardo’s address in the state capital on Wednesday sets the stage for how he plans to advance his policies even as his party is outnumbered. The session begins Feb. 3. He encouraged lawmakers to put politics aside so they can also build on his previous efforts in the 2023 legislative session to expand school choice, give pay raises to teachers and diversify Nevada’s economy.
