SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Valley Heritage Museum opened a new Expo ‘74 exhibit last weekend highlighting the local and regional fairs enjoyed by the Lilac City before the iconic World’s Fair.

Visitors will be treated to pictures from fairs as early as 1886. Expo ‘74 footage, a gondola and the song featured at the fair will also be accessible to attendees.

Museum Director Jayne Singleton is excited to showcase the history of fairs in Spokane while the city celebrates the 50th anniversary of ‘74.

“The 50th anniversary of Expo ‘74 inspired us to look back at the interesting history of early fairs that took place in the region and the visionary leaders that made them happen,” Singleton said.

Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for seniors and $4 for students. Children under 7 can attend for free. Open hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 11am to 4pm.
