New Mexico mother packs a school lunch for her sons friend

A story that has been recently trending has hit home for many parents.

A New Mexico mother never questioned her son when he asked for two lunches each day, just believed him to be extra hungry. But then curiosity struck and Josette Duran asked her son if he wasn’t feeling full with just eating one lunch.

Her son replied, “No, mom. It’s for this little boy at school, and he sits by himself, and all he eats is a fruit cup.”

Josette continued to make, and pack, an extra lunch for her son and his friend, until one day the school called her. The boy’s mother recently got a new job and wanted to pay Josette back for not just making an extra lunch, but for her kindness.

Remembering back to when she had her own troubles, Josette couldn’t accept anything in return. And she wouldn’t.

Her volleyball team raised $400 to pay back their coach after they heard the story. But Josette used the money to pay all the delinquent lunch accounts for the students at the school.

“So now, nobody in that school owes any money, and now everyone can eat,” she said.
