According to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, 1,000 members of the New York National Guard are heading to Washington, D.C. at the request of the U.S. National Guard.
The New York National Guard members will be in D.C. for at least two weeks.
The U.S. National Guard made this request to help facilitate the peaceful transition of presidential power.
