CHENEY, Wash. – On Friday morning, the Cheney Fire Department reported that a dryer had caught fire in a Cheney home, with no reported injuries.

On May 10, around 9:54 a.m., Cheney Fire crews responded to a house fire in the 1911 block of 5th Street in a Cheney neighborhood.

When fire crews arrived, the residents had safely evacuated from the house. They determined that the fire originated from the dryer and managed to prevent its spread, confining it to the laundry room.

Cheney fire crews said that the residents of the home were uninjured.

Fire crews emphasized the importance of cleaning lint traps after each use and switching off bathroom fans.
