COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – North Idaho College (NIC), which has been argued that it has earned a reduced sanction this week.

NIC submitted a special report to the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities on Friday, and argued that the college has made improvements that call for a reduced sanction.

“The dedicated faculty, staff, and students of North Idaho College have shown just how resilient they are in innumerable ways,” the report asserted.

The college pointed to more productive board meetings, increasing enrollment and the dedication of the campus community.

NIC’s Friday report put those concerns to rest definitively, saying that the college was unified behind Swayne.

“The Board and entire campus community are unified in the recognition of Dr. Swayne as the college president,” the report said.

The special report went on to describe a shift in campus culture and effectiveness which NIC argues has merited a reduction in the college’s sanction.

The Northwest Commission before deciding whether the college will retain its accreditation in early 2025.
