SPOKANE, Wash. – On Friday, Washington and Idaho might catch a glimpse of the aurora borealis, also known as the Northern Lights all thanks to a geomagnetic storm.

If witnessing the beautiful aurora storm has been on your bucket list, tonight could be one of the best nights to see it.

The G4 Severe Geomagnetic Storm Watch was issued by the Space Weather Prediction Center and will cross its way into North America hit many northern states like Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and Minnesota.

The storm is expected to be the most intense geomagnetic storm since 2005 and even has the possibility of damaging satellites and effecting voltage.

It is likely the Northern Lights will be visible in the northern horizon sky with the view line of the lights reaching all the way down to parts of Oregon for tonight’s light show.
