SPOKANE, Wash. – The annual Steps for Autism 5k walk, run and roll will take place at Riverfront Park on April 27.
The 5k will begin at 12 pm and will be hosted by the Northwest Autism Center. Families are encouraged to attend the event.
“Hundreds of walkers, runners and strollers will take to the Centennial Trail starting at the Ice Age Playground to walk in solidarity with those with ASD/IDD and their families and cultivate an inclusive space for raising awareness of autism,” Northwest Autism Center said.
Executive Director Dawn Sidell is looking forward to the walk and hopes that it will create an inclusive atmosphere.
“It provides a common access point for all individuals and families to join together with friends, providers, teachers and the community at large in celebration of neurodiversity…The walk, run and roll is about building a sense of belonging and being part of something bigger than ourselves,” Sidell said.
Spokane celebrities including Otto the Spokanasaurus will be in attendance. Those interested in attending can visit Riverfront Park from 11 am to 3 pm.
