WASHINGTON, D.C.-The number of Americans collecting unemployment benefits has risen to the highest level in almost three-years.
The increase in benefit claims is up even though the total number of people filing for unemployment fell last week, according to the labor department.
While jobless claims fell by 15,000 over the past seven days, the number of people claiming jobless benefits rose by 28,000 to 1.9 million Americans, according to Labor Department data.
The 1.9 million Americans claiming benefits is the highest in the country since 2021.
