PINEHURST, Idaho – Shoshone County Sheriff Holly Lindsey has confirmed the death of Gene Jacobs, a pastor at Real Life Ministries in Idaho.
On April 23, around 8:00 a.m. Idaho law enforcement along with community members began an organized search in a mountainous area south of Jacob’s house. The search lasted a full-day and ended with an air team finding Jacob dead.
The sheriff’s office didn’t release additional details because Jacob’s death is still under investigation.
Lindsey also provided a statement regarding the refrainment of providing details into the search for Jacobs.
“I wholeheartedly believe that a family should have time to process what happened and notify their family and friends. They shouldn’t have to worry about family finding out via social media,” Lindsey said.
She noted that Pinehurst Police will be releasing more information regarding the incident later on Wednesday.
“Our community has gone through so much in the last two years, and I wish I had something profound to say to bring some peace to everyone,” Lindsey said. “But the truth is, yesterday was one of the worst days of my career.”
