STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. – Fire officials are investigating a “suspicious” small brush fire that burned south of Springdale.

Stevens County Fire District 1 responded to a .35-acre brush fire in a dry underbrush with fallen trees. Due to brief winds carrying embers, firefighters reported minor torching and three spot fires. Avista was contacted due to the fire’s proximity to high-voltage feeder lines.

The Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is leading the investigation into the fire, which has been deemed suspicious. Further details about the ongoing investigation cannot be disclosed at this time, but officials have confirmed it remains active.
