OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. — A man from Okanogan County was arrested after allegedly recklessly discharging a firearm and later firing at a police drone.
According to the Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a man, later identified as Justen Williams, recklessly discharging a firearm near a home on Mount Hull. When deputies arrived in the area, Williams fled his home, still armed, and retreated to a nearby ridgeline. Deputies established a perimeter around the area.
Deputies said that they learned that Williams was suspected of stealing the firearm from a nearby residence. As a convicted felon, he is prohibited from possessing firearms. Williams was still in possession of the weapon when he was arrested. Using less-lethal equipment, deputies disarmed him and took him into custody.
Williams was booked on a felony warrant for assaulting Okanogan County Sheriff’s Correctional Deputies during a previous incarceration.
Deputies said that they also developed probable cause to charge Williams with first-degree burglary, theft of a firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm. Additionally, Williams could face federal charges for firing upon an aircraft. He is currently in custody.
