OKANOGAN COUNTY, Wash. – The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a missing woman who left her home on Nov. 19 and didn’t return.

According to the sheriff’s office, Sofia Esther Amaro left her family home on Nov. 19 at around 1 a.m. for unknown reasons.

A hunter found a car on Nov. 21 covered in snow in a remote area. When snowmobile Search and Rescue volunteers removed several feet of snow from the car on Nov. 22, some items owned by Sofia were in the car.

“A K9 team from Ferry County SAR team arrived and was deployed. The search has been called off for the day due to nightfall and will resume tomorrow,” the sheriff’s office said.

Anyone with information on Amaro’s whereabouts should contact the Okanogan Sheriff’s Office.
