One dead, three critically injured in car crash on U.S. 95 in White Bird, Idaho

WHITE BIRD, Idaho — A man is dead and three others, including a juvenile, are critically injured following a car crash on Highway 95 in White Bird.

According to the Idaho State Police (ISP), the crash occurred Friday around 9 p.m. A 50-year-old man was driving northbound on U.S. 95 near milepost 222 when his vehicle crossed into the southbound lane. A 66-year-old woman from Riggins, driving a Mercedes Benz southbound on U.S. 95 with two passengers—a 63-year-old man and a juvenile girl—was struck by the 50-year-old’s car.

ISP said all drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts. The occupants of the Mercedes were transported with critical injuries by ground and air ambulances to a local hospital. The 50-year-old driver sustained critical injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic on U.S. 95 was partially blocked for nearly three hours, according to troopers. The crash remains under investigation.
