SPOKANE, Wash. – Meet Zayla, one of the first babies born in 2025 in the Inland Northwest.
Sabrina, a mother of two, welcomed her second child, a baby girl named Zayla, on New Year’s Day. Born at 12:49 a.m., Zayla is one of the first babies of the year.
Sabrina had planned for an early induction due to complications during her previous birth. Despite the timing, the arrival of Zayla on a holiday took her by surprise.
“It doesn’t feel real. It feels like I just never expected to ever have a baby on a holiday, let alone on New Year’s, it feels nice, but it’s still hitting me, like, I still think about ‘Wow, she’s really a New Year’s baby,’ ”Sabrina said.
The family, including Sabrina’s partner Salome, celebrated quietly with festive hats. Zayla’s name, chosen for its uniqueness and the letter “Z,” marks a new chapter in the couple’s journey as parents.
